Meet Our Principal
Nakita Ruiz
I am a first-generation college student raised by a single mother. I am proud to be mixed with both Hispanic and White. Growing up I danced Folklorico for 10 years which taught me a lot about my Hispanic roots. I attended Dallas ISD schools throughout my elementary years. My mother bought a home in Forney during my last years of High School, so I graduated from Forney High School.
I began my career in education with Mesquite ISD as a Middle School Bilingual 6th grade ELAR teacher and then later as a Middle School ELAR teacher. Due to my achievements in the classroom with my emergent bilingual students, I was recruited to become the district's Lead ESL teacher for Middle School. In this role, I wrote the ESL ELAR curriculum for grades 6 - 8, led PLCs, and served as a district LPAC representative.
My next step in my career was the Coordinator of the Bilingual/ESL department for Mesquite ISD. During my years as a coordinator, I went back to school to get my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership which led me to my career path here with Dallas ISD as the Assistant Principal at Hector P. Garcia Middle School. Together we made great gains at Hector P. Garcia and became one of the top comprehensive middle schools in the district. I am excited about what the future holds for me as a principal with Dallas ISD and I can't wait to serve our amazing teachers and students.
